Typhoid Vaccination

£40.00

An infectious disease affecting the digestive system causing severe diarrhoea and fever which, whilst treatable if antibiotics are administered in the early stages, can be fatal if left untreated.  Prevalent in countries with poor hygiene and sanitisation, vaccination is highly recommended prior to travel.

Symptoms are similar to food poisoning; failure to diagnose and treat can lead to permanent disability or death.

When?

At least two weeks prior to travel to areas of risk.

What?

The vaccine is available either as a single dose injection in the upper arm or as a course of three capsule tablets; your pharmacist will help you determine which option is best for you depending on your age and medical history.  Protection lasts for three years and boosters are available thereafter.

Side Effects?

Possible mild symptoms include fever, digestive problems and soreness at the site of the injection.

Suitable for children?

The vaccine is suitable for children from the age of two.

Additional Precautions:

Care should be taken with food hygiene.
